Board level planning & presentations

Date: 4 July 2017 | By: admin

As I'm sure you are aware, presenting at board level requires a different approach to your normal PowerPoint boardroom updates.

Usually at board level you have key decision makers so it's actually less of a presentation and more of a conformation that the direction of the business is correct.

Having sat on a couple of boards myself now I know that waffling on about endless statistics or irrelevant documents gets you know where. I've seen people torn apart by global CEOs in this environment and therefore know exactly how to pitch to get you the correct outcome.

As long as your goals are clear, you fully understand the expectations of those you are presenting to and have a concise outcome, you're on the right path.

This really is an occasion where you need to know your audience and cater to their needs.

This is never, ever show and tell.

This is big picture, operational, bottom line stuff.

If you are a granular worker you will really have to work hard to remove yourself from the day to day parts of your role and put yourself in the CEO/FD/MDs shoes.
